Application Description: 
Ventilation duct measurement and inspection

Challenge:
In this industry, nearly every ventilation duct is manufactured to a unique size. The ventilation ducts needed to be measured with a few thousands of an inch of accuracy. In addition, the tube length varied from 6 inches to 3 feet.

Tolomatic Solution:
A RSA12 rod style actuator was selected with precision ball screw for accuracy during the measurement process. As the RSA actuator moves slowly to find the edges of the part, the PLC laser combination calculates length and records the positions. ID measurements are taken as the rod extends through the tube.
