What IMA feedback code do I select if my desired drive manufacturer is not listed?

If your preferred drive manufacturer is not listed as a standard feedback code for an IMA, then a “DTxxx” feedback code would be the selection. These feedback codes are “generic” and the Tolomatic cables that are paired with them have flying leads that allow them to be wired into your desired drive.

Why are not all drive series listed for each drive manufacturer?

The Drive Integration Tool checks if a drive series supports a given feedback type or protocol and if it doesn’t, then it will be excluded from the available selections. While we do our best to keep our database up to date with the most common drive series for each manufacturer, if the drive series is older or newer it may not be in our database. If you feel there is missing information, please reach out to Tolomatic.

The suggested cables are not a full configuration string. Why is this?

Our goal is to quickly provide directional advice for what cables to use when connecting a Tolomatic actuator to a drive. There is cable flexing, environmental, drive termination, and cable lengths among other factors that will determine the best cable for your application. The suggestions are meant as a starting point when selecting the cables that are best suited for your application.

Can I buy motor cables from Tolomatic?

Tolomatic only supplies motor cables with the “DTxxx” feedback codes, other feedback codes are meant to be used with the respective drive manufacturer’s motor cables.

Why am I not given a suggested cable for an IMAS?

The IMAS actuators were designed specifically with the food and beverage industry in mind. For this reason, the IMAS product family comes with cables fed through cable glands thus avoiding the need for connectors on the actuator body. Most commonly these cables come with flying leads that can be connected to a servo drive.

How do I verify that my servo drive and servo actuator are sized appropriately?

There are many factors that are involved in properly sizing a servo drive and Tolomatic servo actuator. It is best to talk to a Tolomatic Applications Engineer about your application to verify that the actuator and servo drive are appropriately sized.

My desired drive manufacturer is not listed. What should I do?

Contact Tolomatic to verify compatibility if your servo drive manufacturer is not listed. Our servo actuators work with most servo drives that support third-party motors.

I am missing motor / feedback data when trying to commission my servo actuator. What should I do?

Contact Tolomatic if the motor or feedback data that your servo drive requires is not listed in the product catalog or within the Drive Integration Tool.

Why is a motor cable suggested, but not a feedback cable?

The actuator feedback code that was selected likely uses an encoder where the motor power and feedback data are sent through the same cable. If you feel there is an error or have questions about this, then contact Tolomatic.

My actuator’s feedback code isn’t listed. What should I do?

Contact Tolomatic for further information. Tolomatic provides custom products that are not part of our standard product offerings upon request. It is possible that an unlisted feedback code is one of these non-standard offerings and as such will not be listed in the Drive Integration Tool.

Motor files are not available for my actuator configuration or drive manufacturer. What should I do?

Contact Tolomatic if your actuator configuration is not available for the drive manufacturer of your choice. We are continually expanding our motor file libraries.
